National Girls rankings are Released

The National Girls High School Rankings for April 25, 2018 have been released, recognizing the top high school girl wrestlers in the nation. It is the sixth ranking of the 2017-18 season.

USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum have partnered to create national rankings for high school girls wrestlers.

There are six new No. 1 ranked wrestlers in this ranking:
• Olivia Shore, freshman, St. Paris, Ohio, Miami East High School at 106 pounds
• Kaden Campbell, junior, Greeley, Colo., Douglas County High School at 132 pounds
• Jayden Laurent, senior, Denmark, Wis., Denmark High School at 144 pounds
• Kiley Hubby, sophomore, Everett, Wash., Glacier Peak High School at 152 pounds
• Kenya-Lee Sloan, senior, Knoxville, Tenn., Hardin Valley High School at 180 pounds
• Gabrielle Hamilton, sophomore, Gridley, Ill.. Grindley High School at 200 pounds

The ranking list indicates what the athlete’s previous ranking was for the March rankings.

The event which had the biggest impact on the rankings was the USA Wrestling USMC Girls Folkstyle Nationals, Oklahoma City, Okla., March 22-25. This was also held alongside the U23 World Team Trials, and the Girls Folkstyle Junior Duals.

The release dates for the rest of the high school rankings for 2017-18 are scheduled for May 23 and July 11. These will rely heavily on the major national spring and summer events on the USA Wrestling schedule, along with other respected competitions.

The staffs from these three leading wrestling organizations are working together to strategically publish this ranking throughout the year. The girls high school ranking will appear on the websites of all three organizations, and be promoted through each of their different media platforms.

This ranking will evaluate all girls enrolled in grades 9-12, and include athletes from all 50 states. There are six states which sponsor official girls state high school championships, while many other states are also developing their girls high school program.

Coaches, parents and athletes are encouraged to continue providing information about specific athletes and their achievements throughout the year for the committee to consider.
