Hunter White makes History, signs with Wayland Baptist

Hunter White, from Atascocita High School, has become the 1st Wrestler from AHS to sign a national letter of intent to wrestle at the college level when he signed with Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, June 13. Coach Meister and Coach Cook attended the signing as well as Hunter’s high school and club coaches. Coach Meister expects Hunter to make an immediate impact as he already sees him as a leader not only on the mat but outside the gym as well. We anticipate big things from this Wayland team that has been aggressively working to recruit the top talent in the state. Hunter wrestled all 4 years at AHS and was a 3 year team captain. Hunter finished his senior season as a regional qualifier and had been ranked #7 in the state before the regional tournament. He also competed at the Junior Olympics, was a member of Team Texas, and even competed at the National tournament in Fargo, ND. Congratulations to Atascocita High School and Hunter White as we look forward to seeing what the future holds. Hunter accepted both athletic and academic scholarships to Wayland as well as qualifying for their Honors program.Image
