Hanks and El Paso Win Riverside Dual Tournament

Riverside in El Paso hosted a dual tournament this Friday, kicking off the wrestling season for a number of area schools.

When the smoke cleared at the end of the day, El Paso came out on top on the boys side, and Hanks walked away with the team title for the girls.

On the boys’ side, Hanks was also able to bring home a team trophy, finishing as runner ups behind El Paso.

Here’s Kavika Gonzalez picking up a fall in one of their duals yesterday at 160.

One other notable piece for this tournament was the debut of Riverside’s Jayden Bustillo. Bustillo is a two-sport athlete that also runs cross country and just recently started back in wrestling after finishing 16th at the Texas Cross Country State tournament. He went undefeated on the weekend.

You can check out interviews with Jayden and a number of Hanks wrestlers here on our Rokfin page.
