Garrett Orlando is Wrestler of the Week

Garrett Orlando of Houston Cypress Fair High School is WrestlingTexas Wrestler of the Week.  Orlando is fresh off his preseason 32 tournament that was held in League City at Clear Springs High School where he defeated DeShawn Cosby, last years state runner up in the semi finals by a 4-3 decision, and went on to win the championship  by getting the major in the finals against Jaxson Gonzalez at the 138 pound division

During the 2017-18 season Garrett Orlando was a district champion, regional runner up and finished 6th at the UIL state tournament in the 6A 132 weight class.

According to Cy-Fair wrestling coach Tim Stockton, “Garrett has been a tremendous asset to our team on and off the mat with his involvement in National Honor Society, Football, Track, Young Life he has also been a three time All District Academic Team and is carrying a weighted GPA of 6.23 on a 6.0 scale. He is hoping to attend Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas State, TCU or LSU however, if the right opportunity to wrestle in college comes around he will jump on it. I don’t know of anyone that has more excitement for wrestling than Garrett and he embodies everything that we expect at Cy-Fair being a positive student athlete that comes to work hard every day giving everything he has.”

Congratulations to Garrett Orlando
