Franklin Sweeps at The Gage

A few tournaments took place in El Paso this weekend, but one of the most notable is The Gage. This year marks the 5th year of the memorial tournament, and it was only fitting that both Franklin boys and girls took home the winning trophy.

While this tournament takes place in El Paso, there were more New Mexico teams than Texas teams on both the boy’s and girls’ end of the bracket — 7 out of the 13!

In addition to the trophies, this tournament is known for passing out The Gage Shroeder Courage Award. Each year at the event, coaches nominate wrestlers that show courage, integrity, and kindness. This year the one of the award’s recipients was Franklin’s very own, Ian Abdallah.
