First Evers for High School's

I thought it would be cool to list a bunch of first time ever’s for high schools in the wrestling world as the state continues to grow with new wrestling programs each year and the amount of high school wrestlers growing each year.  Some of the ISD’s with wrestling like Corpus Christi have had wrestling for several years now but are just now growing into popularity as they have state champs in boys and girls now.  I sure there is a lot more first then listed, these were just a few.

Lucas Lovejoy HS–
Morgan Elvin @ 185 is the first ever state champion for boys or girls.
Klein Cain–
Moe Cruz @ 95 first ever girls state qualifier, Moe Cruz @ 95 first ever Girls state placer at 6th
Rockwall Heath
Rockwall-Heath had their first girls State Placers this year in Paige Box 95-4th and Clarissa Archuleta 128-2nd.  That was their fourth year to have a girls program and Clarissa Archuleta became Rockwall ISD’s first Girls State Finalist among both schools in the district.  Paige Box places 4th and will look to become our first 2x State Placer next year.
Edinburg Vela
Robert Silva @ 138lbs. is the first boy at Edinburg Robert Vela to place at state.
CC Veterans Memorial
Jacqueline Ghent at Veterans Memorial HS in Corpus Christi.  the first 2x State Champ  for wrestling, boys or girls, not only for her  school but also for the school district, CCISD. Ghent won back to back state titles, one in the 128 lb weight class last year and one in 119 lb weight class this year.  Daniel Leal was the first boy state champ for the CCISD last year as well.
Katy Seven Lakes
Gabrielle Holloway was the first wrestler at Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas to qualify for State all four years of High school.
George Ranch
Cameron Quashie was the 1st time boys state 6A qualifier
El Paso Pebble Hill
Dominic Melendez was first in school history to be a State Placer for Pebble Hills School. fun fact Dominic’s brother Jeremy Melendez was first state champion  for El Dorado in 2015 and I believe still is the only State CHAMPION for El Dorado.. both brothers made school history one at El Dorado and other at Pebble Hills!

Olivia DeGeorgio- Freshman -Willis  – 5A Girls

Valerie Carreon first light weight girl state champion
Azle HS
Jasmine Howard (95 lbs Azle HS) had a historic season going undefeated and also unscored upon. She did not allow a single point scored in her 33 matches this year.
Houston Clear Lake
Mikayla Mata @ 165 lbs First Female STATE Qualifier and STATE Placer (3^rd).
Corpus Christi Ray
Brooklyn Moreno-Arispe won the 5A 215  title this past Saturday, pinning Lily Mills From Canyon Randall with 1:10 left in the 3rd period. It was the first state title in school history. Ray has had wrestling since 1997.
Princton High School
When th program is just finishing up its second year of existence, lots of firsts.   Riley Morrison 95lbs first state placer in school history (last year), now this year she is our first two time state placer.  Dacarius Cook 285lbs is our first male state qualifier.
San Marcos
Gianna Moreno-1st two time district Champ.  1st Girls State Placer.   Highest State Placer in school history(3rd). Their program just finished their 5th season of UIL.  She joins her older brother as the 2nd State Placer in their brief history.  This is her 2nd year of wrestling and she came into State with one loss(DQ).  She lost her first match and battled back across, winning 5 straight, beating several top 10 girls.  Great season!
College Park
Hunter Robinson was College Park wrestling’s first state champion.
Houston Cypress Park
Endygo Scott – 1st  Girls state placer in school history
Bryan Gutierrez – 1st Boy state qualifier in school history
Midlothian
Jackson Carter 5A-138 was the districts first ever state champion.
Mayde Creek HS
Cameron Mitchell- Senior 285-  1st time state qualifier.
Haltom City HS
Alliyah Stewart-haltom-first state champion.
Corpus Christi Moody
Esteban Gallardo Moody High School 4th 170lbs 5A,  first boy state placer
Victoria West
John V. Garcia- 120lbs- First boy Regional champion 120lbs 2013 & place-120lbs 5th 2013 & 4th place 2015 & first boy 3x State qualifier. First brother & sister to go to State 2015 & to both place for West-Jaedyn Garcia 95lbs-4th 2017.

Hutto HS boys 1st Regional champ, 1st state placer in program history.
Donna High
