At this year’s Who’s Number One event, two U17 World Team members will face off in the 100-pound division. Hailey Delgado, who earned her spot on the team at 43 kilograms, is moving up in weight to take on Jaclyn Bouzakis, the nation’s top-ranked high schooler at 100 pounds and the 2024 U17 World Team representative at 46kg.
Bouzakis, a sophomore standout from Wyoming Seminary, dominated the national high school rankings as a freshman at both 95 and 100 pounds. Her place atop the 100-pound rankings was solidified with victories at the 46kg World Team Trials and the 16U national title in Fargo.
With her main rival, Morgan Turner, moving up to 105 pounds, Bouzakis now stands alone as the undisputed number one at 100 pounds.
Looking to challenge that status is Delgado, who finished the 2023-24 season as the country’s top-ranked 95-pounder. Hailing from El Paso, Texas, Delgado is determined to make her mark on the national scene, as well as showing the world that El Paso is wrestling hotbed.
At just 14 years old, the rising freshman has already secured a spot on the U17 World Team at 43kg. Her international resume includes silver at the 2024 U17 Pan American Championships and gold from the 2023 U15 Pan Ams.
Bouzakis brings her own impressive international experience, highlighted by a bronze medal from the 2023 U17 World Championships. Wrestling runs deep in the Bouzakis family, with her older brothers, Vince and Nic, also boasting Fargo titles and a lengthy list of accomplishments. Jaclyn now joins her brothers in that elite company.
