Eastwood Takes 1st at the Southwest Shootout

Coming fresh out of Thanksgiving break, two west Texas teams ventured out to their neighboring state of New Mexico to face stiff competitors and work off some of that turkey from last week.

The Southwest Shootout Duals, located in Rio Rancho, NM (just a few miles north of Albuquerque,) is known for hosting tough competition from all over the state.

This year’s top teams that showed included Cleveland, Volcano Vista, Carlsbad, and the hosts themselves, Rio Rancho. Additionally, the lineup garnered some out-of-state attention from Chandler High School in Arizona and the El Paso teams, Eastwood and Pebble Hills.

Unfortunately for El Paso wrestlers, if they want to wrestle Texans outside of their own city, the next closest tournaments in Region 1 would require them to drive 5-6 hours to the Panhandle.
