Arlington Martins Donavan Whitted at the 106 sophomore division wins the championship making it the 2nd year in a row that an Arlington Martin wrestler has won the NHSCA championship at this weight and division. Last year Dominic Chavez at this weight dominated beating nationally ranked wrestlers like Whitted did this year beating the #16 ranked wrestler in the semi finals from Cleveland Tennessee, Trae McDaniel.
Texas had 67 wrestlers total competing in this event from High School to Middle School including 4 women making the trip. 15 wrestlers made All American making it one of the highest amount of Texas wrestlers to place. The field had in some cases 128 man brackets where some of the wrestlers wrestled 6 matches and didn’t even place where as some wrestled 10 matches in their placement.
