On Saturday, February 4th, the seven schools of District 7 met for their wrestling championships. Those schools were Bryan, Klein, Klein Cain, Klein Collins, Klein Forest, Klein Oak, and Waller. There were 75 boys and 44 girls participating. 16 of the boys were ranked, and 10 of the girls were ranked in the top20 of their respective weight class.
Hereās what happened in the Boys action, which unsurprisingly, was dominated by the top seeded wrestlers.
Brandon Carrillo, the top-seeded 106 pounder from Klein, and pre-district #7 used two first minute pins to clinch the District title. Carrillo heads to Region 3 probably seeded behind only Lymon Jackson of Conroe.
The 113 lb top seed, Julis Soltero of Klein Collins was also the recipient of two first period WBFs. The 1:04 pin in the finals via a guillotine was against Kenneth Nichols of Klein. Soltero entered the contests ranked #4 in the Texas, and should get the top seed at the Allen regional.
