Hunter Bogner became a three-time champion and then teammate Bronson Baxter followed with his third state title.
The duo helped the Demons become the first 5A team with multiple three-time champions.
In the two-class UIL system, only two teams have accomplished that feat — the other is Arlington Martin thanks to a win by Isaak Arevalo in the 120-pound 6A finals on Feb. 17.
The junior finished this year with a 29-1 record and won the 132-pound title with a pin over Comal Smithson Valley’s Tristan Luna.
His next quest is to be the first four-time champion ever in 5A boys’ history.
Bogner said he eats, breaths and sleeps wrestling and that last one if almost literal. His dad built a wrestling room in his front yard two years ago.
Former Wyoming wrestler Drake Foster came to the room and helped train Bogner.
“He has helped me so much,” Bogner said of the influence of Foster, a three-time state champion from Idaho.
