Day 1- Region 3 UIL Boys Wrestling Championships

A quick look at the Boys’ brackets indicates that all of the first seeds made it through to the semifinals. Three of the 2nd seeds did not make it through to the Semifinals; only eight of the 3rd seeds made it through; and only 6 of the 4th seeds will be in the championship round Saturday morning.

At 106, #s 1-3 (Ramirez, Walsh and Kemery) made it through while Keane Quiamboa of Katy Seven Lakes, upset #4 Christopher Stiles for the slot to challenge Santiago Ramirez.

1st seed and #2 ranked, Juan Cantu of Houston Westside will be facing 4th seed and #11 ranked Mahir Ali in the semis, first thing in the morning. Nicholas Walker o League City Clear Falls, the 2nd seed and 8th ranked will meet 7th ranked Evan Harrington of Humble Kingwood. Harrington defeated Dale Box, the 3rd seed, in a 5-2 decision.

In the 120 lb weight class, the #1 seed (Carlos Gonzalez), #2 seed (Kevin Mcaleavey), and #4 seed (Dalton Turner) wrestlers are intact into the semifinnds.

Eli Esquivel, seeded 1st and ranked #14 in the 126 lb weight will move to the semis along with 8th ranked and 2nd seed, Ty Annoura. Annoura will face Anthony Tritico, who is the 3rd seed and #18 ranked in 126. Esquivel will meet Christopher Foster III of Clear Falls.
