With the conclusion of the Super 32 Mason Ding was the lone High School boy to place, placing 3rd. The Women placed all 5 wrestlers with Brittyn Corbishley taking the championship along with the youth placing 2 wrestlers with Dorian Olivarez taking the championship as well.
Mason Ding @ 220 was in a true 32 man bracket and while everyone was focus on the 4 nationally ranked wrestlers Ding started his day 1 by defeating by fall Ryver Shelton of TN in his first match. Then upsetting the #18 ranked wrestler in the round of 16 Logan Shepard of Ohio in dec 6-3. Ding’s quarter finals match put him up against the #1 seed and the #9 ranked wrestler Noah Pettigrew of GA wrestling for Blair. Ding dropped a close decision 4-3 putting him to the consolation side of the bracket. Starting off in the Consi 8#2 Ding defeated Josh Howell of IN 7-4 to move into the consi of 4 where he defeated Sakarri Morrison on NC 4-2. This set up a meeting in the consolation semi finals with the #11 ranked wrestler Xavier Doolin of MO. Doolin forfeited for reason unknown to WT putting Ding into the 3rd place match with Triston Norris of NC where Ding with a last second takedown secured a 3rd place finish. Aaron Loften made the blood round in a 128 man bracket to finish top 16.
Devin Patton @ 130 had some competition this week in her 32 man bracket with 10 nationally ranked women and herself at #3 nationally ranking with a 2nd place win. Patton started her day off with 3 tech falls and almost had a tech fall in the semi finals against L. Walton who held Patton to a 10-1 decision. Walton had also previous beaten the wrestler whom had beaten the #1 seed Justice. Patton faced the #10 ranked Savannah Cosme of Co. in the finals and the first period ended with Patton down 2-1. In the 2nd Patton gave up a push out to make it 3-1 Cosme, then another push out to make it 4-1 with 30 seconds left. With 10 seconds left Patton got the takedown but no back points so Patton settles for 2nd place with a 4-3 loss.
Madison Sandquist @ 139 who was the 5th seed won her first 2 matches then dropped her quarter finals match by decision. Sandquist then battled back on the consolation side to take a 5th place finish.
Brittany Corbishley, Hannah Francis, and Lexi Shannon along with 2 other wrestlers all did a round robin at the 195lb class with Corbishley taking the championship with a fall in the first period. Followed by Francis for 2nd and Shannon takes 4th. Actually Corbishley won every match with a first period fall including a nice throw on Hannah Francis for the fall.
Dorian Olivarez in the middle school division won himself a championship at the 128lb weight. Olivarez was the 3 seed in his 32 man bracket where he reeled off 5 straight wins for the 1st place finish. Caio Aron placed 5th.
