Coppell HS Girls win the 9th annual Chicken Wing Invitational

The Chicken Wing Women’s Tournament has grown to be one of the most competitive in-season wrestling tournaments in Texas, bringing in top girls teams from all over the state. This tournament includes teams from Houston, Dallas, New Braunfels, San Antonio, and Austin. Houston Westside hosts this tournament sponsored by Knockout, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, and more, providing wrestlers and coaches with the opportunity to compete for gold medals, chicken wings, and fresh gear.

Coppell High School clutches 1st place as a team, edging out Katy HS by 1.5 points. Katy High School went home with 2nd place with 2 champs. Here is a weight-by-weight recap of the Chicken Wing Invitational:

100 – Champ: Hailey Bello

Hailey Bello of Langham Creek finishes this tournament unscored upon in 3 matches and wins her final 7-0 to take home the first gold medal of the evening for the girls. Alissa Perez finishes 2nd in this tough bracket with impressive wins over the 3 seed early in the bracket.

Madison Nguyen, junior from Westside HS, earns bronze after dropping a close match in the semis by pinning her way through the consolation side…
