College Park Dominates Reece’s Warrior Invitational, Claims Team Title

The Woodlands College Park made the road trip from the Houston area to Dallas and won the Reece’s Warrior Invitational girls tournament.

The Cavaliers had 164 points and easily cruised to the team title when the two-day event wrapped up on Saturday at Arlington ISD Athletic Complex.

The Conroe ISD school has a comfortable margin ahead of Cache, Oklahoma, which was the runner-up with 112.5 points and Justin Northwest with 90.

College Park won three of its four championship matches.

Violet De La Cruz wrapped up the first title for College Park with a pin in 55 seconds over Shiann Famero of Cache. De La Cruz (126) had two pins and two tech falls.

“There some really tough girls and it is good to be back on the mat and getting more matches,” said the Class 6A all-stater at 120 pounds last year. “Last year I came here and got fifth and it was a tough one. I wrestled good, I feel like.”

De La Cruz was third in total points scored with 55.

Standout Anna Vogt put up big numbers in her 4-0 run to the 132-pound title for College Park.
