CFISD Boys Invitational Recap

Man oh Man! Where to start.  This tournament could have been mistaken as the UIL State Tournament as from semifinals on where all the top ranked wrestlers in the state.  Some of the semifinals matches could have been state finals matches in the boys or the girls tournament.  Starting off with the team stats.  Allen boys in their first ever CFISD appearance took the team championship as expected even without 5 of their starters out for various reasons with 317.5 points.  College Park boys without a couple of their starters still came in 2nd place as a team 176.5 points and Rockwall coming in 3rd with 168 points.  On the girls side it was Prosper girls edging out Southlake for the team championship here Prosper had 157 points, Southlake had 153 points.  Cypress Ranch came in 3rd with 149 points.

The whole tournament was full of surprises, weight changes, ranking changes, busted weights at weigh ins, and no shows for whatever reason.  On the boy’s side there were 19 busted weights at weigh ins and 60 no shows while the girls had 9 busted weights with 53 no shows.

Some of the top ranked wrestles didn’t make the trip some did.

All in All is was an AWESOME ran tournament with some great food for the coaches, refs, and media.  Tim Ray was ahead of the game with the google shared weigh in sheets so changes were made immediately instead of waiting for the hand-written sheets that always cause tournaments to start late.  Having 16 mats rolling helps as well.

We are going to recap weight by weight starting with the boys.
