Boneyard Wrestling Academy travels to Alabama and after 9 duals in 2 days, winning their pool, places 2nd out of 26 teams. With teams assembled with wrestlers from all over the USA attending the Deep South Nationals Duals in Irondale Alabama outside of Birmingham Alabama. The Boneyard Wrestling Academy was one of the few teams with Texas only wrestlers. There was also Texas wrestlers on other teams from around the USA making up 26 teams in total. There was state champions on every team almost and made for some great match ups. Whitted Trained had 2 High School teams as well with a few Texas wrestlers and they placed 2nd in their pool and 9th over all.
AJ Marino, Darwin Hull, and Eli Sheeren all went undefeated for Boneyard. AJ Marino went head to head with some champs, Marino defeated Beau Lewis a Virginia Middle School State Champ, Logan Fowler an Alabama Middle School Champ as some notable matches. Alabama didn’t get to have their State Championship due to Covid-19 so a lot of wrestlers didnt get to complete their 2020 wrestling season. Darwin Hull made easy over Warren Hoyt an Alabama state runner up, and Eli Sheeren picked up a notable win over Peyton McComas of Virginia a 2x state champ giving him his first loss in 2 years along with Cody Williams of Georgia and Jason Brumlow both state runners up. Braxton Brown wrestling up 2 weights took a loss to Cory Land a 2x undefeated state champ from Alabama who is ranked 17 @120 on Flo. Jonathan Wertz lost a close one to a Wyoming Sem. Prep State Champ Gabe Arnold who is ranked #7 on Flo. Juan Grange’s only loss was to a Tennessee State Champ Ashton Davis 9-7 while getting other wins over other state placers. Ruben Calderon had only one loss as well and that was to another Tennessee State Champ Hunter Mason by 10-8.
Overall the wrestlers did great for being out of commission for 5 months. congratulations to all of them.
