Battle for Glory: District 14-5A Girls’ Wrestling Championships

In the heart of San Antonio, Texas, the Alamo Convocation Center set the stage for a riveting display of skill and determination as female athletes graced the wrestling mat. This event was no ordinary competition; it was a battleground where the girls showcased their prowess, vying for the coveted title in their respective weight classes.

The Alamo Convocation Center became the arena where champions were crowned, and aspirations soared high. As the echoes of determination resonated through the venue, the athletes left nothing to chance, striving to secure victory and earn the right to advance to the prestigious Region 4-5A Tournament the following week.

The Alamo Convocation Center witnessed a display of tenacity and athleticism as these young competitors sought to etch their names in the annals of wrestling glory. 

In the 100-pound weight class, the first, third, and fifth place matches were closely contested. In the 1st Place Match, Alexis Avalos of Comal Smithson Valley demonstrated exceptional skill, securing victory over Sofia De Alba of San Antonio MacArthur with a record of 42-9, So., and earning the title. The 3rd Place Match saw Marianna Jacquemotte of Comal Canyon triumphing over Caroline Strande of Comal Pieper with a fall at 4:52, securing the third position. Meanwhile, in the 5th Place Match, Kaylee Bumpass of San Antonio Highlands claimed victory over Apolonia Nuncio of San Antonio Jefferson with a fall at 0:57, earning the fifth-place spot.
