Amarillo High School wrestlers Austin Brandt, Taygen Smith, and Talen Erwin who helped their team finish with a 5th place finish at UIL State, all signed with colleges today,
#2 ranked Austin Brandt who finished the season by placing 2nd at State is a 3x State Qualifier, 2x State placer, had a senior record of 43-2 and overall record of 139-28, he was an All American and NHSCA Academic All American with a GPA of 3.70. In 2015 he placed 3rd at 182.
He signed to go to Fort Hayes State University in Kansas who finished 5th in their region this season
#3 ranked Taygen Smith who is a 4x state placer, National Champion, with a senior record of 49-1, has a GPA of 3.80, Taygen place 6th in 2013, 2nd in 2014, 2nd in 2015, and 3rd in 2016 at UIL State. Taygen is heading to Kearny Nebraska to become a Bronco with the Hastings College
Last but not least #2 ranked Talen Erwin, who himself a 4x state placer, getting a Championship in 2014, he had a senior record of 48-3 this season and has a GPA of 3.70, and is also an All American, Talen will be joining the Stars of Oklahoma City University in OKC,
Talen placed 5th in 2013, Champ in 2014, 3rd in 2015, and 2nd in 2016 at UIL State.
