Wrestling Texas Wrestler of the week is Justin Villegas of Allen High School. With a weekend of regionals behind us and a lot of wrestlers state bound, there were plenty of athletes to choose from.
Justin started the year wrestling Varisty at 182 backing up Evan Hackett. As Hackett reclaimed his spot at the first of the year and the next weight up was another state champ. Justin was forced into wrestling at 220lb or 285lb depending on where Nico Manzonelli ended up.
So as districts came upon us an underweight Justin was slotted into the 220 spot where he handily won the 2-8 6A districts and this last week won 2-6A Regional Championship
Justin Is a Senior who plays Baseball as well.
According to Allen head Coach Best, “Justin is a testament of sticking with a program for 4 years as a JV wrestler and waiting for his opportunity which comes his senior year. Good things come to those who stick it out.”
