Allen Girls Shine in High-Profile Euless Trinity Classic, Earning Major Wins Among Elite

The Allen stalwarts kept winning on the mat during the Euless Trinity Trojan Classic, held Friday and Saturday at the B.J. Murray Athletic Complex.

The Lady Eagles had 165 1/2 points, coming in behind Lubbock Cooper for the team crown in the field. Keller Fossil Ridge was third with 118 points to take home a trophy, while Kayla Nguyen got an award for the most pins in the least amount of times — getting 7 falls in 11:27.

Of the eight titles from Dallas-area wrestlers, three were from Allen — ranked as the top team in 6A.

Freshman Kailin Sebert won a title for the third tournament in a row. She won the 120-pound title with a pin over Cypress Ranch’s Mariah Smith via a pin in 5:16.

That was an upset as Sebert was ranked No. 9 in 6A, while Smith was No. 4.

Sebert also beat ranked wrestlers in El Paso Pebble Hills’ Genesis Montez-Suraez (No. 12) and Keller Central’s Echo Cranor (No. 13).

Top-ranked Jasmine Robinson rolled to the 165-pound title for Allen. She won by a medical forfeit in her final match against Oyinkansola Adeogun of Prosper Rock Hill, No. 5 in 6A. In her 3 wins during competition, she had three pins in a combined 2:17.

In a state semifinal rematch from last year, Esther Peters of Allen beat El Paso Americas Erica Cobbs by a 6-2 decision in the 235-pound finals. Peters lost to Cobbs in the semifinals at state in 2023.

This year, Cobbs entered this tournament ranked No. 1 in 6A, while Peters was right behind her at No. 2. Allen also picked up a win over Class 5A No. 2-ranked Kayla McLearen of Lubbock-Cooper in the semifinals…
