Allen and Lovejoy Compete at Cushing Inv.

Cushing Tournament

This tournament is where last year’s 5A and 6A state team champs Lucas Lovejoy and Allen competed.  This was a 28-team tournament which Allen won with 260 points over top ranked Blackwell Oklahoma 234 points. Lovejoy finished at 19th place.  Texas had 4 champions all from Allen and 11 other placers from both teams combined.  Below we go through each weight on how they got there.

120lbs#1 ranked Kelby Bernard of Allen ran the gauntlet here all the way to a 120lb championship including a win over #10 ranked in 5A Jackson Lambert of Lovejoy in the semifinals.  Lambert was on a 3-match win including a sudden victory in the quarter finals to face Bernard in the semifinals where Bernard won by major 16-3.  Lambert in the consolation semifinals loses a close decision and has to wrestle for 5th place which he gets by winning a 5-2 decision.  Bernard
