Allen and Eastwood share team title, Robinson picks up 3rd individual title

Jasmine Robinson and Olivia Moreno made history in the 6A division, becoming the fifth and sixth-ever three-time state champions in UIL girls wrestling.

The last day of the UIL State Wrestling Championship at the Berry Center marked the second year in a row a three-time champion was crowned at the finals. Last year, Olivia Degeorgio of Conroe Woodlands College Park became the fourth.

Moreno, from Austin Bowie, ended her career with a perfect 36-0 record and capped off her final state tournament with a 1-0 win over Little Elm’s Emily Pedro in the 126-pound championships.

The two wrestlers entered the finals with undefeated records but the No. 1-ranked Moreno took the title.

“I definitely felt a lot of pressure and I felt it right before the match,” Moreno said. “I took a moment to soak it all in and then I felt good.”

An escape to open the second period was the only point the match scored.

Moreno was awarded the Class 6A Most Outstanding Wrestler plaque at the end of the festivities…
