The New Year is here, hope everyone had an awesome Christmas. The first weekend of the New Year will bring fireworks as there are huge tournaments this weekend all over the state.
Week 8 will have plenty action to see wherever you go. The largest tournament is the CFISD, while the Texas Outlaw, Melissa Classic, and Lady Horns Classic can arguably the toughest tournaments in Texas this week.
Below we go through each tournament in no particular order that are listed on track for this weekend.

2026 Centex Invitational held in Austin at the Delco Center will feature 33 teams all from the Austin area and south to the border. Both boys and girls competing here. #1-5A Girls, Georgetown will be competing here as well.
23rd Annual CFISD the largest tournament in Texas annually held at the Berry center in Houston has 92 boys and 91 girls teams listed on trackwrestling. It is filled with top 20 ranked wrestlers on both boys and girls and just the fact that the large brackets make this tournament tough as to win you must beat up to 8 other wrestlers. It does have 5 top 10 ranked teams with 5A and 6A combined for the boys and same with the girls having 5 top 10 ranked teams combined.
25th Lady Horns Classic going down at Amarillo Caprock high school is a women’s only tournament and will feature 3 top ten 5A ranked women’s teams and 1-6A top ten ranked women’s teams in Borger, Henrietta, Palo Duro, Northwest Eaton from DFW area. Plus 4 Colorado teams and 4 Oklahoma teams. This will be a tough tournament itself.
5th Annual NYE Shuffle going down at Frisco Memorial High School in DFW area will feature 21 teams all from the DFW area except it does show Clute Brazoswood High School making the trip up from Houston area.
Melissa Classic going down at the #1-5A ranked Melissa High School, will compete as one of the toughest tournaments this weekend with only 24 teams listed. 6 of those teams are top 10 ranked in their class. All Saints Episcopal for Prep. Arlington Martin, Rockwall-Heath, and Southlake for 6A. Lubbock High School and Melissa for 5A, and Blackwell Oklahoma the #1 ranked 3A team. This isn’t even counting Brother Martin from Louisiana, Bentonville High School from Arkansas and Civic Memorial of Illinois. This is a boys only tournament.
Texas Outlaw happening at Allen High School on paper will be the toughest tournament of the weekend based on ranked wrestlers and teams. 6 of the top 10 ranked 6A teams will be here, with 11 top 10 teams in total and thats just the boys tournament that has 37 teams competing. The Girls tournament a lot smaller in team size with 30 teams will still have 7 top 10 ranked teams competing and a lot of the #1 ranked wrestlers in every weight.
Bill Neal Classic going down at Kimball High School in Dallas is a 25 team tournament of boys and girls mainly all Dallas schools but all from the DFW metroplex.
2026 EPISD Duals at Austin High school in El Paso will be a 12 team dual set up in pool action with both boys and girls teams competing.
Lamar Invitational held at the Arlington Athletic Center in Arlington will be a large 47 team tournament. Although it wont have any top 10 ranked teams it does have some scattered top 20 ranked wrestlers. With 47 teams competing am sure the competition will be good nevertheless. Both boys and girls are competing here.
Fillies Stampede and Grapevine Duals that always happen the first weekend of the new year are listed but have no teams listed.
New Year’s Cougar Classic a 34-team tournament happening at Canyon High School in New Braunfels is loaded with San Antonio and Austin teams. Both boys and girls tournament happening here.
Twin City Invitational happening at Edcouch-Elsa High School in Elsa Texas down in the valley will have 13 local teams competing, both boys and girls.
