In a competitive District 2-6A, the Haslet V.R. Eaton completed the sweep when the boys won with 169 1/2 points.
The Eagles edged their Northwest ISD rival Trophy Club Byron Nelson, which had 162 points.
The battle for third was close with Keller finishing with 141 1/2 points, followed by Keller Central (137), Wolfforth Frenship (135 1/2) and Keller Timber Creek (133) all within 8 points of third.
Eaton won first place despite not having a district champion but had 9 of the 14 wrestlers advance to regionals.
Ethan Crawford-Daily (106) and Shawn Ungu (190) were runners-up for Eaton. BJ Perez (138), Luke Dockins (157) and Easton Knoll (175) all placed third.
Keller Timber Creek took sixth overall but finished with a district-best four individual champions.
Jaxon Vargas (126) won a district title with a pin over Weatherford’s Gunner Spontaski.
“It feels great, especially coming off fourth place last year,” Vargas. “My bracket last year was a little tougher so maybe at regionals, I can redeem myself and win a hard bracket.”
Luke Burgar, No. 2 at 138 in the rankings, kept his perfect season alive with a 3-0 weekend. He pinned Keller’s Steven Heck in the finals in 18 seconds.
No. 4-ranked Griffin Mitchell won the 165-pound crown with a pin over Wollforth Friendship’s Aisaiah Lugisse in the finals.
Fifth-ranked Rade Ostrander pulled an upset in the finals with a 3-2 win over Andrew Jurasek of Keller — the No. 1-ranked wrestler. Ostrander, a junior, improved to 36-5 with the win.
“We are at home and we feel more comfortable; we are all relaxed,” Burgar said. “We are able to get ready in our dressing room; it is more of a normal routine.”
Keller Central and Keller Fossil Ridge had three individual champions.
Matthew Govea (No. 11-ranked) won the 106-pound title, while Dominic Salazar…
