Warrior Allegiance Eastwood Invitational Boys

Eastwood plays host the Warrior Allegiance Invitational and able to also keep the 1st place team trophy at home with a 230-point victory. Eastwood had five 1st place finishes and 13 placers total. In 2nd with 208.5 points is Franklin with 10 placers and three 1st place finishers and rounding out the top 3 is Parkland with 124 points. 

Starting off at 106-weight class we have Hector Oritz currently ranked #16 in the state. Ortiz faces off against Barron of Del Valle, Ortiz leads off with a takedown, Barron answers back with an escape and takedown of his own, Ortiz gets a reversal before the period ends. Barron defers and Ortiz chooses bottom leading 4-3 in the match. Ortiz starts off the 2nd period with a reversal and 3 near fall before getting the fall. In the semifinals Ortiz wastes no time getting a takedown on Dunn of Riverside and putting Dunn on his back as Ortiz gets the fall and advances to the finals. Ortiz carries the momentum into the finals as he goes against Garcia of Andress. Ortiz goes right to work as he gets a takedown, 2 near fall, 3 near fall and finally the fall in the 1st period to bring take the gold. 

At 113-weight class we are looking forward to the collision course of Noah Magana of Eastwood ranked #12 and Alexander Tapia of Franklin #11 ranked in the state in the finals. Tapia gets the 1st period falls over Reyes of Hanks and Rodriguez of Chapin who is ranked #11 in the state in 5A. Magana gets the falls over Moralez of El Paso High, Lopez of Ysleta, and Casillas of Del Valle currently ranked #10 in 5A. Now for the match up we have been anticipating is underway. Tapia strikes first with a takedown at the 1-minute mark, Magana escapes quickly and ends the period Tapia up 2-1. In the 2nd Magana defers and Tapia chooses bottom, Tapia escapes, Magana fires off an attack and manages to catch Tapia and put him on his back for the fall with time running down in the 2nd period. Magana is your champion at the 113-weight class.
