The Texas Outlaw in its 10th season held at the home of the State Champs Allen High School once again lived up to the high standards of quality wrestling by some of the best in the state. With how the 2-day event is scored it allows for a high scoring tournament and Allen scores their highest point total yet with 692 points to secure the team championship. College Park the #2 team in the state comes in 2nd place in team points with 414 points with Oklahomas Fort Gibson High School taking 3rd place with 393.50 team points on the boys side. On the girls side of the Outlaw in its first year of bringing the girls to the tournament it Prosper High School girls prevailing as the team champions with 235.5 team points. The Allen girls take 2nd place with 203.5 points and the Weatherford ladies taken 3rd with 137 points. The girls tournament wasn’t at full capacity like the boys.
A couple of teams didn’t make the trip like Houston Strake Jesuit and Austin Vandegrift. However, Weatherford High School made a last-minute appearance with their boys and girls teams which added to the toughness of the tournament. The 5A Dripping Springs High School boys with 10 top 20 ranked wrestlers came in 5th place below the 2 Oklahoma schools Glenpool and Fort Gibson outscoring the higher 5A team ranked Frisco Centennial by 150 points in this tournament. Seem like every match was a Dripping Springs wrestler. Look for this team to make noise at state this year.
