Day 1 is in the books and the tears, cheers, upsets, rage, and etc where all in effect. We saw a lot of 1st round upsets and some almost upsets but this is the state tournament the best of the best so is it really an upset?? We break it down by weight of who’s who in the semi finals and how they got there. Allen as a team as a commanding lead through day 1 as well.

Right off the bat #9 Logan Starr of Austin Westlake upsets #3 Caden Garcia of Allen at 106 keeping a rematch of #1 Shawn Ryncarz of Arlington Martin happening. Ryncarz beat Starr in the quarters leaving #1 Ryncarz, #2 Eamonn Jimenez of Killeen Ellison, #4 Alec Robeson of Houston Cyp. Ranch and #6 Zarek Hernandez of San Antonio Reagan round out the semi finals.

The top 3 ranked wrestlers all made it through, #1 Braxton Brown of Allen, #2 Carson Laughery of Austin Lake and #3 Micah White of Humble Kingwood. #7 Justin Rodriquez of El Paso Pebble Hills makes it through to the semi finals by beating #4 Xavier Harrell of Houston Cyp. Ranch in the quarter finals.

College Park or #8 Jacob Garcia of Keller Central. #4 Hunter Males of Rockwall didnt make it past Whitted and Garcia beat in UTB 5-4 #5 Rance Waigland of Allen.

#1 Parker Decker of Keller and #2 Tagen Jamison of Plano West are still on collision course for the finals. #10 Michael Bone of Katy Taylor upset #4 Joe Huerta of The Woodlands in the 1st round and continue on through the quarter finals to reach the semi finals to take on #6 Luke Holland of Katy. #3 Jarrett Moore of Allen ran into Decker in the quarter finals, enough said. Decker and Jamison both look on fire.

#1 Jaden Two Lance of Arlington Martin will match up with #3 Luke Sloan of Austin Vandegrift in the semi finals. #2 James McClain-Green’s finals comeback ended when #8 John Richardson of Prosper gets the fall @ 3.52 in the 2nd period by cradle in a 1st round upset. #4 Mason Woodward of Weatherford didnt make it past #5 DeShawn Cosby of Schertz Clemens in the quarter finals. Richardson and Cosby will battle on the other side of the bracket.

However another upset with #12 Owen Hollaway of Southlake Carroll outlasting #4 Roberto Bautista of Klein in UTB 9-7. #5 Truman Timmons of Katy shocked #3 Josh Thomas of Con.Wood. College Park with a fall in the quarter finals. making it a Danzi/Hollaway and Aragon/Timmons semi finals.

College Park after being down earlier come back to beat #2 Preston Decker of Keller 9-6. #7 Julius Alfaro of Arlington Martin gets by #3 Caleb Mata of Houston Clear Lake by a 5-2 decision and #6 Caleb Sebra of San Antonio Johnson gets by #4 Alejando Cavazos of Allen making it a Alfaro/Lofton and Sebra/Thomas semi final match up.

#1 Elise Brown-Ton of Allen is staying the course and looks solid. Brown Ton will have #8 Massoma Endene of Arlington Bowie who beat #7 Heath Clinton of Rockwall Heath in the 1st round. The OH SNAP! here was #3 Darwin Hull of Schertz Clemens getting the win over #2 Jonathan Wertz of Con.Wood. College Park in the last second. YES 1 second left and Wertz let go of the leg of Hull who was in on a takedown which gave Hull 2points to win in the final second 3-2. #6 Alex Maestas of McKinney Boyd has beaten everyone by fall including #4 Harris Masson of Katy Tompkins to put him in the semi finals against Hull.

#1 Kishawn Higgins of Katy and #2 Farid Mobarak of Plano West both made the semi finals on opposite sides of the bracket. #9 Abathar Mounshed of Arlington Bowie beat #4 Jackson Briscoe of Coppell to punch his ticket to the semi finals to face Higgins. #10 Quinn Wilkinson of Southlake Carroll beat a #5 Ryan Nichols of Allen to reach the semi finals. #3 Bryce Milster of Rockwall ran into Higgins in the quarter finals leaving Mounshed and Wilkinson to match up with Higgins and Mobarak respectively.

#1 Eli Sheeren of Klein had no trouble reaching the semi finals as well as #2 Cameron Bye of Euless Trinity. Again they are on opposites of the bracket. They will match up with #8 Skyler Malone of Richardson Pearce and #9 Vincenzo Olivia of Allen. Malone got by #3 Christopher Soliz of San Marcos in the quarter finals and Olivia got by #4 Noah Cairns of New Braunfels in the quarters as well. Olivia will match up with Bye and Malone will have Sheeren.

On note: Kidd beat Powers in Region 1 finals and Davis beat Rucker in the region 2 finals.
