6A Boys Road to State 170-195

Now we start getting into the part of the Forrest with the BIG trees.

170

Region I @ 170 is almost a 1 man show.  Mounshed of Arlington Bowie seems to be in control of the region and the rest of the picture is a little blurry after that.  Mladek of EP Montwood, Theadford of Arlington Lamar, Moreno of Grand Prairie all have the resume to take one of those spots, but Lara of EP Montwood, and Deleon of Weatherford come from incredible programs.  Never overlook a hungry kid with quality coaching!!

Region II is a construction zone.  Not because it’s a rebuilding year for the region, but because of the plethora of hammers that will be on site!! Brown-Ton of Allen, Moore of The Woodlands, Mobarak of Plano West, Wiest of Vandegrift, Milster of Rockwall, Etc. We could keep listing ranked wrestlers, but why?  4 of these 5 will show up to the Berry center with more than a few war stories of the region tourney!

Region III may get mauled by a Tiger from Katy.  Higgins is firing on all cylinders right now and looks unbeatable.  He barely escaped with a 1-point victory over #1 @ 182 Sheeran on Klein earlier this week.  This guy is a senior on a mission.  Jackson of Cy-Woods, Taylor of Clear Lake, Lowenstein of Cinco Ranch will all be looking to score a trip to the Berry Center. Is there anyone else who can break into that group?? Don’t overlook Janvier of Jersey Village. He’s starting to come on at the right time.

Region IV will pit Rodriguez of Weslaco East, and Laws of Comal Canyon against each other, unless……. Freshman Marsh of New Braunfels crashes the party.  Erwin of Schertz Clemens and Gonzales of San Marcos will be throwing their name in the hat as well.

182

Region I will be headlined by Bye of Euless Trinity and David of Keller Central.  Both Young men are having a great season, and there’s no reason it should end at the Regional Tourney. McDougall of Weatherford and Renteria of EP Pebble Hills should secure the final 2 spots.

Region II Will provide a little more depth at the 182 bracket.  Sheeren of Klein looks to have things well in hand, but he can’t take anyone for granted on this trip to Allen.  Olivia of Allen, Malone of Richardson Pierce, and Grange of College Park will not be making the trip with plans of wrestling for second. Throw in Biddick of Cedar Ridge, Brahimaj of Rockwall, Davis of Dallas White, and Pfromm of Bryan, and half of this bracket are state quality athletes. Unfortunately, this region will only get 4 spots.  Who wants them more?!!?

Region III looks much like region I in the sense that it seems to be a 4-man race.  Cowhey of Cy-Ranch, Martin of George Ranch, Radman of Seven Lakes, and Batres of Kingwood are out in front.  Look out for a couple of hungry seniors in Sommer of Clear Falls, and Ceniceros of Cy-Lakes to take a run at crashing the party!

Region IV The triumvirate: Soliz of San Marcos, Slade of Lake Travis, and Macias of Schertz Clemens are looking to remain in control down in region IV.  That leaves 3 guys battling for the 4th spot. Pruske of SA Churchill, Fonseca of Weslaco East, and Munoz of McAllen Memorial.  These three seniors are not to be taken lightly!!

195

In Region I there are 5 guys who could take the title.  Powers of EP Franklin, Soto of Arlington Martin, Kidd of Weatherford, Ruvalcaba of EP Americas, and Halter of Lewisville. All these guys have been very consistent and dependable all season. This boils down to who has the best day, or does experience take over. Kidd (aptly named) will be the youngest in the group?  Will the moment be too big for him?  I bet I know his answer!!

Region II has incredible depth here.  This region may make a legitimate argument for the region of death! State qualifying dreams will be left to wither on the mats once the action has cleared. Look for a brawl between Davis of Allen and Rucker of Klein Collins.  Allen may have history and tradition, but no one beats the coach’s son on experience! After these 2, there is Soto of McKinney Boyd, Coker of Killeen, Edwards of Rockwall, Sears of College Park, Parnham of Prosper, and Strand of Vandegrift!! ALL tough kids from great programs!! College park is making a strong case to be a top team this season, will that be motivation enough for Sears?

Region III has 5 guys all close in ability who will be on each other battling for those 4 spots.  San Miguel of Brazoswood, Racicot of 7 lakes, Perez of Cy-Falls, Hinojosa of Cy-Fair, and Shields of Langham Creek, should all be on hand to sort it out on the mat.

Region IV has 3 guys, then the flood gates open.  Cairns of New Braunfels, Trevino of Lake Travis and Hernandez of Los Fresnos, SHOULD remain in control.  Then what?  There are about 6 or 7 seniors who have the ability to make some noise and get to the Berry Center.  Who will be ready to get the job done?
