6A Boys Road to State 152 & 160

As this series is being written things are starting to shake up out there!  Rankings will be upended by the time we hit the regional tourneys!  Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.  Its fun to predict, but……. that’s why we wrestle the matches!!!

152

In region I
at 152 we have another Decker from Keller in control, but don’t tell that to Gaskill of Southlake Carroll or Alfaro of Arlington Martin!  The Freshman from Martin is surging right now, but I’m sure the Seniors form Keller and Southlake are seasoned enough not to take him for granted.  Hoenich of Euless Trinity seems like the obvious pick here for the last spot, but EP Pebble Hills has been silently climbing the ranks out west, and they will be bringing senior Anthony Delgado to the party.
Region II
won’t be outdone!! We could see a match up between Danzi of Allen and Lofton of Vista Ridge.  These are two of the most talented kids in the state and will both be looking for the same regional crown. Thomas of College Park looks to be in the mix as well.   Then things get a little weird.  Chau of Klein Cain has a great record, but hasn’t seemed to make the jump over other ranked wrestlers.  Then there’s Klein, and their revolving 52s.  Will it be the Sophomore Baylis, or the Freshman Clayton that we see on the mat?  Meanwhile Roberts of Vandegrift is looking to take advantage.
Region III
Mata of Clear Lake, and Rundell of Cy-Ranch are on a Collision Course.  Last match went to Rundell, but Mata should not be counted out.  DeLeon of Mayde Creek, and Campbell of Humble will be in the mix, but there are a couple of others who will look to make there presence felt.  Williams of Cy-Park has been wrestling incredibly this season, and the big one: What if Kelske of Katy decides 152 is the weight he wants?
Region IV
has about 5 guys who could all take 1^st, or 5^th on any given day.  This might end up being the most exciting region to watch!  Kornblith of Austin Anderson, De La Cruz of LaJoya, Hunt of SA Roosevelt, Boarnet of SA Churchill, Herrera of PSJA North, and Brode of SA Reagan are ALL legitimate threats! With 3 of those guys being in the same District, it could be a bumpy road to the Berry Center.

Region I
at 160, Endene of Arlington Bowie and Wilkinson of Southlake Carroll are alone in the lead.  Who will be in the 3^rd place match is the question?  Escobar of EP Franklin, Espinosa of EP Pebble Hills, or the freshman upstart Serrano of EP Montwood?!?!?
Region II
has Maestas of McKinney Boyd, Cavazos of Allen and Clinton of Rockwall Heath all chasing Wertz of College Park.  That makes 4, but……Branvold of Prosper and Rorison of The Woodlands will not be there with intentions of finishing outside the top 4.   UPSET ALERT!!!!!! Jonathan Ward of Klein has silently been building a great second half of his season, with a solid win over Rorison and a 3-point loss to Branvold. In the past few weeks his only losses have come at the hands (and arms, and legs, and…) of Wertz.  Can he finally get his name in the conversation?
Region III
Kelske of Katy dominates here if he stays 160, but the name of the game is a state title, no one remembers who won region. Where will Kelske and Coach Lowe decide to wrestle?  DeLeon of Cy-Park, Masson of Tompkins, Ebbesen of Cinco Ranch, and Boyd of Clear Lake are all waiting in the wings.
Region IV
has 4 hammers in Hull of Shertz Clemens, Sebra of SA Johnson, Alcala of Edinburg Vela, and Laurel of New Braunfels. Lake travis has been building a SOLID team, so their 160 Holubets can’t be counted out. There are a few others in this region that have been ranked earlier on that are struggling a bit as of late, but when district hits everyone is 0-0!
