Thier were a lot of kids in the 10-20 ranking range that were under the radar all season, a few of the higher ranked wrestlers made a climb, but for the most part the top 5 stayed the same. If you had 10 loses it was tough to get in the top 20. Regionals this weekend will sum up the top 20. below are some of the top 10 changes.
106-6A. No movement in the top 10
113-6A, #2 @ 120 Nathan Rankin drops to 113, and meets #2 Noah Yeamans of Allen in the D8 finals and wins with the fall. #10 and #11 Luke Sloan of Vandegrift and Tyler Barker of RR McNeil switch positions. unranked Joshua De Hoyos of Weslaco makes a #9 spot.
120-6A, with Nathan Rankiin moving down a weight, everyone else moves up. unranked Tatsuro Iwase of Plano beats #6 Kennedy Cross of McKinney Boyd and makes the jump, Cross 3rd place finish drops him out of top 20.
126-6A, #2 @ 132 last years state champ at this weight drops back, Ryan Chavez of Eastwood, so he will regain his #1 spot here. #12 Noah Saucedo of Arlington HS beat #13 Brett Taylor of Arlington Martin. #8 Alex Saylor of Cibolo Steele bumps up to 132, and #6 @ 132 Gregory Quintiliana of San Antonio Johnson drops to 126 and beats #5 Sameer Musalli of SA Reagan. #2 Timmy Thompson of Clear Creek loses to #8 Antonio Figueiredo of Westside in the finals, so Thompson drops below Figueiredo and the rest move up. (hope you caught all that, cuz my head is STILL spinnin’)
132-6A, with Chavez dropping to 126 everyone moves up.
138-6A. unranked Guadalupe Rodriguez of Mission moves into the top 10 based on district win and only 2 loses.
145-6A. Jacob Junk of Austin Bowie moves into the top 10, the rest are the same.
152-6A. #5 Wade Wilson of Katy and #8 Matthew Hernandez of Cy-Woods dropped down from 160.
160-6A. Top 5 the same, some of the higher ranked wrestlers move into the top 10 with district wins.
170-6A. 170-6A, #4 Nathan Grimes of Keller Timber Creek beats #3 Aron Lindberg to move to #3. #10 Colin Clark of Klein avenged his earlier loss to #9 Dillon Mouser of Humble Atascocita, so they switched back.
182-6A, Top 10 basically the same.
195-6A, 195-6A, unranked Bryce Dockins of Klein Collins beats #3 Logan Leatherwood of Summer Creek, Moves Matt Dean back up to #3. Dockins goes in @ #7 and Leatherwood drops out with a 3rd place finish. #5 @ 220 Bryce Marsh drops to 195. Had a #1 vs #2 finals match at district 8, #1 Mark Inglehart of Allen and #2 Collin McCoy of McKinney Boyd, Inglehart prevailed.
220-6A. #2 Nico Manzenelli of Allen goes back to 285 where he was last years state runner up, #4 Freddy Gomez of Eastwood drops to 195.
285-6A, Manzenelli Takes over the #1 spot . #5 Robert Hill of Langham Creek is out with injury. #20 George Marsh of New Braunsfel beats #8 Riley Lambert of Lake Travis so Marsh moves up. #4 Jonathan Kellogg of San Antonio MacAuthur beats #3 Gabriel Cabrerra of Churchill, so they switch positions.
