5A Girls State Preview
It’s almost safe to say that region 1 will have the girls 5A state champion as 8 of the 10 top 10 are from region 1 while the other 2 teams are region 4. Amarillo Caprock won it all last year and as evenly matched with the other region 1 teams could pull it out again. Dumas the top ranked team is poised to take the team title though but their top wrestlers match up with top wrestlers from around the state so they will need some help. Not mentioned in the top 10 is Northwest who I believe has the wrestlers to place. A team don’t need 1 champ to win but several placers can do the trick as well and Northwest has 6 wrestlers who are capable of placing. Below we go through the top ranked wrestlers and I give my opinion on who the finalist might be and the champs. As always we look for the upsets which there always is.
