The 5A girls held lots of upsets today, below we go through and check out how the top 4 prevailed.

95 Pounds
The quarter finals held a tremendous upset today. #1 Kelley Reyes from Carrollton Turner was pinned by #5 Audalie Cruz from Amarillo Palo Duro in the third period. In doing this, Cruz earned herself a spot in the semi finals. #2 Riley Morrison from Princeton also lost in the quarter finals today. She was defeated by #3 Kylie Hernandez from El Paso Eastlake in a close match. The semi finals lineup will consist of #3 Kylie Hernandez from El Paso Eastlake, #4 Jacey Burreson from Frisco Lebanon Trail, #5 Audalie Cruz from Amarillo Palo Duro, and #8 Audree Garcia from Amarillo Caprock.

102 Pounds
In an eventful match, #2 Jasmine Howard from Azle and #3 Odelia Lopez  from Corpus Christi Ray fought to the end, resulting in a win for Lopez. The match was close, ending with a score of 5-4. The semi finals will include #1 Jadyn Cordova from Amarillo Palo Duro, #3 Odelia Lopez from Corpus Christi Ray, #4 Avery Ashley from Lucas Lovejoy, and #10 Kylie Robledo from El Paso Hanks.

110 Pounds
There aren’t many surprises in the semi finals lineup for these girls. Tomorrow morning will consist of #1 Sarah Martinez from El Paso Eastwood, #2 Vanessa Macedo from Amarillo Caprock, #3 Victoria Nunez from El Paso Hanks, and #5 Katherine Heath from Lucas Lovejoy. Heath beat #4 Jaryn Ortegon from Canyon Randall in the first round of the tournament today.

119 Pounds
These semi-finals matches will feature #5 Tabitha Wood from Frisco Independence and #9 Shelbi Baker from Carrollton Creekview, as well as #1 Alexis Montes from El Paso Eastwood and #3 Annette Enciso from El Paso Hanks. Wood beat #2 Tatianna Garcia from Amarillo Caprock in the quarter finals, and #4 Leslie Cuevas from Waller lost to Enciso in the same round.

128 Pounds
The top four ranked girls all made the semi-finals tomorrow. We will see #1 Aubrey Yauger from Burleson Centennial, #2 Kya Battle from CC Veterans Memorial, #3 Angelina Prado from El Paso Eastwood, and #4 Angelina Baltazar from El Paso Hanks.

The quarter finals featured a major upset today. #3 Sariah Ferguson from Frisco Independence got pinned in the second period by #10 Daniella Brown from Georgetown. Brown secured herself a spot in the semis, and will be joining #1 Madison Sandquist from Humble Kingwood Park, #2 Mea Mohler from Leander Glenn, and #5 Rebekah Chavez from El Paso Eastwood. #4 Karina Quiros from Frisco Liberty lost to Sandquist in the quarter finals today, sending her to the consolation bracket.

148 Pounds
This weight class was filled with surprises today, and #1 Kayani Ayala from El Paso Burges is the only one of the top four ranked girls to make it to the semi-finals. #2 DeUndria Anderson from Beeville Jones was upset by #14 Destiny Rodriguez from Northwest. Rodriguez pinned Anderson in the third period today, earning herself a spot in the semis. #3 Molly Gribble from Vernon was upset by #11 Bailey Ford from Burleson Centennial in the quarter finals. The match was close, but Ford stood her ground and came out victorious. #4 Samantha Bonilla from El Paso Eastwood lost to #5 Alana Curl from New Waverly in the quarter finals today as well.

165 Pounds
In a very eventful set of matches, #4 Judtih Rivas from La Joya Palmview lost to #8 Arkajai Walker from Lubbock Estacado in the first round of the day. Walker then lost to #9 Ayanna Potter from Northwest in the quarter finals. Potter will be wrestling in the semi-finals along with #1 Destiny Miles from Dallas Kimball, #2 Princess Egbuchunam from Frisco Liberty, and #7 Makia English from Bryan Rudder.

185 Pounds
This is yet another unpredictable weight. #4 Emma Lozada from Princeton was upset by #14 Mikaitlyn Anderson from Beeville Jones in the first round of the day. Anderson then lost to #2 Zoe Hankins from El Paso Parkland in the quarter finals. #3 Sierra Hall from Waller was also upset today, being defeated by #13 Malachi Kyser from Arlington Seguin in the quarter finals. Kyser and Hankins will be joined in the semi-finals by #1 Natalia Villegas from CC Veterans Memorial, and #10 KiAundra Green from Dallas Kimball.

215 Pounds
In the quarter finals, #3 Camila Flores from Sharyland Pioneer lost to #7 Norma Salamon from Bushland. The match was close, but Salamon earned her spot in the semi-finals. #1 Samyra Thomas from Houston Kashmere injury defaulted during her match against #8 Mia Epps-Hicks from Corpus Christi Ray. Epps-Hicks will be continuing to the semi-finals, along with #2 Precious Hernandez from Donna and #4 Autumn Bradley from Northwest.
