Up and coming freshman at Canyon Randall named Johnathon “Speedy” Ortegon. Speedy has won numerous Youth state titles including the division 4, 100 pound title last year. His first tournament yesterday in Dumas. Speedy beat last year’s 5A 106 State Champ from Dumas, Martin Mendoza in overtime 4-2. Speedy will be Randall’s 106 pounder this year..
The Dumas Takedown Tournament included 6A schools Tascosa & Amarillo High. Other schools were Randall, Palo Duro, Caprock, Lubbock High, Pampa, Dumas. Johnothan took 1st at 113 beating Mendoza in the finals.
