Allen High School – Allen, Texas
Arguably one of the toughest regions in Texas. But we can debate that another day. Some serious high-level Texas High School wrestling went down this weekend. For some, the road continues to Cypress but for most this is the end of the road. For all you Seniors who stepped on the Mat for the last time I applaud you for your hard work and dedication, you are all better people for taking the journey. With that being said let’s jump right into the team race.
1st Allen-307 pts.
The raining state champs showed that they are ready for a repeat run. Always prepared, in shape, and well-coached. Getting 9 wrestlers to the finals with 4 regional champions. Allen will have 13 representatives at the state tournament next week. Their top dogs were. Joseph Liescheski 138 1st, Caden Brown 144 1st, Ryan Nichols 215 1st, and Drake Madole 285 1st.
2nd College Park-243.5 pts.
The difference in this one was missing a 106#ier, and a lot of losses in the semis. Although they did a nice job on the back side and had some huge wins from some unexpected places. I wouldn’t count them out of the state title picture quite yet. 4 in the finals with 4 regional champs and 10 Cavaliers punching their ticket to State. Their Top Wieners were Andrew Huerta 113 1st, Caio Aron 126 1st, Ripper Oborny 150 1st, and Alec Robeson 157 1st.
3rd Rockwall-138 pts.
Had a couple of nice performances by their top peeps. Which was enough to get them 3rd. But would need a more complete effort and score in more weight classes. With only 4 grapplers going to the party. Here are their top luchadores: Jarrett Stoner 190 1st, Ethan Bernis 157 4th, Jake Moon 144 2nd, and Jose Hernandez 106 4th

Jackson got back into it with a reversal off the opening whistle in the second getting the score to 5-4, but Carrillo put it away with an escape, to a takedown and back points to start the third.
