2023 6A-Region 3 Girls’ Wrestling Championships Recap

This past weekend 192 wrestlers gathered to compete for the Region 3-6A Girls wrestling championships, representing Districts 9, 10, 11, and 12. These girls have put an incredible amount of heart, soul, and sweat into preparing for this weekend. Let’s see how they fared below:

At 100 lbs, Arianna Beltran-Villalo of Cypress Ranch 1st seed, the top ranked wrestler in Region 3 proved her ranking by pinning her way to the finals and ending the upset hopes of Minha Castillo of League City Clear Falls with a 7-1 decision, where she led from the beginning to the end of the match.

3rd- Yarelin Tavera, Katy Cinco Ranch over 4th- Christine Tran of CyFair Jersey Village, Fall 0:57.

Nevada Daniels (51-1) the #1 seed, 2nd ranked-107 lb wrestler from Katy Cinco Ranch took on challenger, Kristen Bryant of Katy Tompkins. This was a rematch of last week’s District championship in which Daniels WBF in 3:36.Daniels would once again prove to be too much for Bryant, as she really turned on the heat in the second period scoring an escape, and a NF-3, before trading reversals for a 10-2 lead before scoring the pin. Daniels enters the States ranked 2nd behind Riley Rayome. They have not faced each other this year. Daniels’ only loss was a 6-4 decision to Kylie Wood of Rockwall from the Texas Outlaw tournament. Wood is ranked #11 going in to States….
