THe 5A boys team title is too close to call. Dumas comes in with 88 points, Liberty has 82, Canyon Randall 81 and Centennial has 80. All eyes will be on the 152lb final. A win by Zach Garza of Dumas could put them on top, but it’s no easy task against undefeated #1 defending champ Robison of Frisco Liberty. If Robison prevails, then the title is up for grabs and could come down to the 220lb final. But wait a minute, Randall is favored to win in the 106 and 126 final – which would add at least 8 points and put them in the lead, two pins and they can take a 5 point lead and force Garza to score a pin to take the title. Liberty is favored in the 132 final, which could draw them within 2 points of the lead – then they would need their #1 ranked Robison to prevail in the 152 final to overtake Dumas against undefeated #2 Garza. But then they have Centennial’s top ranked Noah Sims in the 220lb final against Rowe – which could decide the team champion. Our assessment – slight edge to Randall.
