#17 Nationally ranked Allen High School wrestlers traveled to Yukon High School in Yukon, Oklahoma for the Jay Hancock Invitational where, for the 2nd year in a row, they take home the Team Championship. This year they beat #20 Nationally ranked Choctaw High School of Oklahoma by 30 points. AJ Ferrari, the #14 nationally ranked wrestler for Allen, once again beat the nationally ranked wrestler from Choctaw in the finals to maintain his ranking. He was Allen’s lone Champion (rankings per Intermat Wrestling)
Top 10 ranked Southlake Carroll and Keller Timber Creek made the trip as well. 145lb Cameron Haddock for Southlake was the lone champion for Southlake. Grimes had a 3rd place finish for Timber Creek at 182.

TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week – Jan. 23rd, 2017
TOM’s high school wrestler of the week is freshman A.J. Ferrari of Allen High. The grappler from the Lone Star State improved to 30-1 on the season after winning the 2017 Jay Hancock Invitational in Oklahoma, over 2015 Fargo Freestyle Champion Jaryn Curry of Choctaw, 3-2. This was a rematch of the Reno Tournament of Champions quarter-final between the two, which Ferrari also won, 4-3. Ferrari is the 20th ranked wrestler in the country and the number one wrestler in Division 6A in Texas. With his individual championship, Ferrari helped Allen High win the Jay Hancock Invitational for a second consecutive year. Congratulations to Ferrari for being chosen as TOM’s high school wrestler of the week!
